Bespoke

We specialise in the replication and manufacture of historical and architecturally important roof tiles, ornamental fittings and ridges. They are used on buildings that were once part of the great culture and high quality building vernacular throughout the UK. These were often made to order from a pattern-book the best clay manufacturers offered and used extensively on our most important listed buildings. If these unique detailed tiles are not re-introduced into our current building stock they could be lost forever.

FAQs

How long do your tiles last?

As a standard, the tiles are guaranteed for 30-60 years. But as a rule, a good quality handmade tile will last for 80-100 years in the right conditions. This will be down to the quality of clay and how well the roof is installed and maintained over the coming years.

I’m really interested in using your tiles – how can I find out more?

Our team has the resources to design and develop bespoke roofing products to exact standards. Working closely with all interested parties, care and attention to detail has become the trademark of our heritage work. We frequently work with organisations such as the National Trust and Historic England.

We understand that restoration projects are often subject to strict regulatory constraints and criteria that demand products which are genuinely ‘like for like’, so we collaborate with project teams to make sure that the finished result meets these expectations.

You mention bespoke products – can you really make anything and what are the limitations?

Yes, we can make all sorts of clay profiles. If it have been made before there is no reason it can’t be made again. There are no real limitations to what we can make, apart from the physical size of the clay that we can extract, press or handmake.
